Humid Air? You Should Still Do Skincare!

As we enter the month of September, it’s easy to say that this monsoon season is at its very peak! More and more rainfall only leads to higher humidity in the air. Now at first, it’s easy to assume that this increase is good for your skin—after all, it’s natural hydration, right?

While high humidity does offer some benefits, it also brings its own set of issues for your skin:

1. The excess moisture clings to dead cells present on your face, which can clog your pores and lead to breakouts.

2. Due to the higher moisture levels, your skin’s nourishment can get uneven. The outer layers might feel plump while the deeper layers dry up.

3. Humid weather also speeds up sebum production, which confuses your skin’s oil production process and leads to a sticky sensation.

Whether you’re living in a coastal city such as Mumbai or an inland one like Delhi, the onset of the rainy season, and thereby its impact on your skin, is simply unavoidable. Monsoon doesn’t mean no skincare needed; if anything, it means more mindful skincare.

Our advice? Do the basics right: cleanse with a gentle cleanser, use gel-based moisturizers, and exfoliate twice a week. Finally, don’t forget the SPF! Listen to your skin very carefully, and tweak the approach as you go.
